Partner, Creative Director
Can you sex a mussel? Blair Sweeney can – and not just because he was born and raised in a fishing community. Blair’s seafood expertise owes as much to his career in design as it does his upbringing in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
In fact, it was Blair’s passion for design that lured him from university in his home province to Prince Edward Island and Holland College. Headhunted straight from school into his first job in magazine design, he soon broadened his creative horizons, joining TechnoMedia when it was formed in 1988.
As senior graphic designer and creative director, Blair has turned his considerable talents to virtually every kind of design challenge. And whether it’s signage to stop the eye or a menu to stimulate the appetite, his criteria are the same: creative excellence and efficiency that give clients a competitive advantage. It’s an approach that tends to keep clients.
Clients like Tourism Charlottetown. Blair has been laying out the city’s welcome mat for over 15 years, making tourism one of his areas of particular expertise. So too is the promotion of PEI’s renowned agriculture and fishing resources. Hence his familiarity with mussels (and lobsters, too.)
Not surprisingly for the son of a fisherman, Blair’s work ethic is up to any task. Growing up with eight brothers and sisters explains his strong family values and tireless collaborative spirit. For Blair, good working relationships are everything, and he takes great pleasure in nurturing them.
Community values also count with Blair, who coaches soccer and is a Home & School member. A longtime judge for Celebrate Canada’s Provincial Poster Contest, committee member for the Bridging a Nation Pro-Canada Initiative, Communications Committee member and volunteer for the 2001 Special Olympic Canada Winter Games, not to mention blood donor at more than 40 blood drives, when his community needs help, Blair answers the call.
Blair resides in Stratford, PEI, with his wife Dawn and their two sons, Liam and Jordan.
